CTM series iron and manganese removal filter

Purpose

The CTM series iron and manganese removal filters are suitable for the treatment of groundwater with an iron content of less than 10mg/L (maximum 15mg/L) and a pH value of not less than 5.5. After treatment, the iron content in the water is less than 0.3mg/L, meeting the national "Standards for Drinking Water Quality" (GB5749 - 2006). It is particularly suitable for iron removal from groundwater in small and medium - sized towns, rural water supply, and as the water source for tap water in industrial and mining enterprises, as well as for the pretreatment of industrial water softening and desalination processes.

Structure and working principle

Ferrous iron (Fe2+) has relatively strong reducibility. It is easily oxidized by oxidants (such as oxygen, chlorine, potassium permanganate, etc.) to ferric iron (Fe3+). Fe3+ easily undergoes a hydrolysis reaction in water, generating the insoluble compound Fe(OH)3 which precipitates out, thus achieving the purpose of iron removal. The above is the principle of iron removal by aeration.

    Iron removal with manganese sand is a commonly used method. The main component of natural manganese sand is manganese dioxide (MnO2), which is a catalyst for the oxidation of ferrous iron to ferric iron. The generated Fe3+ is immediately decomposed by water into flocculent iron hydroxide and precipitates, and the iron is removed. Using aeration for oxygenation combined with manganese sand for iron removal is a commonly used iron removal method.

Main features

1. Aeration part: No aeration tank, aeration tower, chemicals, or catalysts are required. Only a small amount of air needs to be added, which can reduce operating costs.

2. The main part of the equipment is a device that integrates processes such as strong oxidation reaction, sand separator, and grouped suspension filter, with a unique structure.

3. Filtration part: Since the filter is equipped with an automatic backwashing device, there is no need to install backwashing pumps and backwashing water tanks, which can reduce the project land area and investment.

4. The pressure filter has a high backwashing intensity, ensuring uniform and thorough flushing of the filter layer without dead spots. It has a short backwashing time, a long filtration cycle, and can extend the service life of the filter media.

5. This equipment can directly supply water to the user's pipe network without the need for a clean water tank and secondary pumping station, reducing equipment investment and avoiding secondary pollution.
